The Country Club de Bogotá, Club Los Lagartos, and Club Campestre Guaymaral will host the XXIX South American Senior Women’s Championship, an event that will bring together delegations from across the region for a week defined by competition, camaraderie, and the tradition of amateur golf.
From September 28 to October 2, 2026, Bogotá will once again become the meeting point for senior women’s golf in the continent with the staging of the XXIX South American Senior Women’s Championship.
Three iconic clubs in Colombia’s capital—Country Club de Bogotá, Club Los Lagartos, and Club Campestre Guaymaral—will open their doors to welcome players from different countries in one of the most traditional tournaments on the South American amateur calendar.
The official opening ceremony will take place at the Country Club de Bogotá, marking the start of a week that, beyond the competition, is often defined by the reunion of players who return year after year as part of this senior circuit.
Over time, the South American Senior Women’s Championship has become one of the most important gatherings in women’s amateur golf in the region, bringing together delegations from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Colombia.
The competition will be played over three rounds: the first round on Tuesday, September 29, the second on Thursday, October 1, and the third and final round on Friday, October 2. The closing ceremony will take place that same day at Club Los Lagartos, where champions will be crowned in both the team competition and the individual standings.
As tradition dictates, each country fields teams composed of three players per category. Individual scores from each player are combined to determine the team classification, while an individual championship is contested simultaneously.
This format allows golfers with different handicap levels to compete within their respective divisions, maintaining the inclusive and competitive spirit that has defined the championship since its early editions.
For this 29th edition, categories will be distributed across the three host courses. Club Los Lagartos will host players in the First and Second categories, while Club Campestre Guaymaral will stage the Third category. The Country Club de Bogotá will welcome the Fourth category and the Supersenior division.
The goal is to provide each group with a course suited to its level of play while also showcasing some of Colombia’s most representative golf courses.
The championship also maintains its rotating tradition, having traveled to different cities across South America for nearly three decades. The most recent edition, the XXVIII South American Senior Women’s Championship, was held in Asunción, Paraguay, with strong participation from players throughout the continent—confirming the tournament’s continued growth and relevance on the regional amateur calendar.
Colombia also holds a strong history in the event. In the XXV edition held in Cochabamba, the Colombian team captured the main scratch title thanks to the performances of Olga Lucía Botero, Ana María de Llano, and Helena Barriga, reinforcing the country’s prominence in women’s amateur golf across the continent.
Beyond the trophies, however, the South American Senior Women’s Championship has always carried a strong social component. Competition weeks include opening ceremonies, gatherings between delegations, and a traditional closing gala celebrating both the champions and the sporting spirit that unites participants.
For many players, the tournament is also an opportunity to reconnect with friends and rivals from different countries after a year apart.
The selection of Bogotá as host city for this edition adds special significance. The city has hosted the championship in the past and boasts a world-class golf infrastructure. Its traditional courses, combined with the challenge presented by the altitude of Colombia’s capital, promise an exciting test for all participants.
When the first tee shots are struck on September 29, Bogotá will once again become the epicenter of senior women’s golf in South America for an entire week.
Among historic fairways, long-standing friendships, and spirited competition, the XXIX South American Senior Women’s Championship will continue a tradition that has celebrated golf and passion for the game for nearly three decades.
