El Cortés Golf Club by Puerta Cortés, a Gary Player design,  is more than just a golf course; it’s a destination that combines the best of nature, luxury, and topnotch golfing, making it a must-visit for any golfer seeking a memorable Stay & Play experience in La Paz.

Although the course is situated well above the water, your eyes are naturally drawn to the striking aqua blue whenever it comes into view. The course begins with a downhill hole that plays towards the water, where power lines and refinery infrastructure detract from the experience before the layout turns inland, leading to some less inspiring uphill holes.

Once you reach the high point of the course, the experience transforms. The dramatic elevation changes, stunning ocean views, and creative design elements bring the front nine to a thrilling conclusion. The back nine offers several more memorable holes, including the 14th tee shot, which is one of the most breathtaking and impressive in all of Mexico.

Recent changes in ownership have led to some inconsistency in turf maintenance. As a result, the grass around the bunkers is somewhat spongy due to shallow root growth, and while the fairways and greens are playable, they could benefit from more attentive care.

Signature Hole:  6th Hole – 404 Yard Par 4 – Sparkling aqua blue water stares back at you as you gaze down the fairway from the elevated tee afforded here. Bunkers line both sides of the fairway and narrow the short grass along the descent to the green with a natural desert landscape framing the outsides of the hole. Players who stripe their drive will enjoy extra distance created by the downhill terrain and set themselves up for a scoring opportunity on one of the most attractive you can encounter in Baja California Sur.
